Closet apps, compared honestly.

There are a handful of good closet apps, and they make different trade-offs. These pages lay them out plainly, including when you’d be better off with something other than Cotton.

How to choose a closet app

Start with your phone. If you use Android, Whering, Acloset and Indyx all have apps; Cotton and Stylebook are iOS only. Then think about setup. A closet app is only useful once your clothes are in it, so the speed and quality of cutouts matters more than any feature list.

Next, decide how you feel about ads, accounts and where your photos live. Some apps are free because of ads or shopping links; others charge a subscription; a few let you pay once. Finally, ask what you want the app to do each day: suggest outfits, show you what you actually wear, or connect you with other people’s style.

We make Cotton, so assume some bias. We’ve tried to be fair: every page says what the other app does well and when you should pick it instead. Competitor details come from third-party roundups at the time of writing.

How often are these pages updated?+
