Cotton is a private closet app and outfit planner for iPhone and iPad. Photograph your clothes once, and it puts together what to wear from them: every morning, for the weather, for the week and for trips. Here is every feature, and what’s free.
On-device cutouts
Pick up to 30 photos at once, or lay several pieces on the bed in one shot. Apple Vision lifts each garment off its background on your iPhone in about a second, measures its real color and files it by category. Your clothes are never redrawn unless you ask.
An outfit every morning
Today puts together a look from your own closet. Tap a piece to keep it and shuffle the rest. Cotton favors pieces you haven’t worn lately, so forgotten clothes come back into rotation instead of the same five looks.
Dressed for the weather
Cotton checks Apple Weather for your approximate location and picks warmth, layers and shoes for the forecast, with a one-line reason under each outfit, such as a light layer for a cool morning or boots for rain.
Occasions
Choose everyday, work, going out or workout, and the outfit changes to suit the day. Each piece carries its warmth, seasons and occasions, guessed on the phone and editable.
Ask Cotton
Tell it your plans, like “dinner on a rooftop, might get cold”, and it picks from outfits built out of your own closet and says why. It runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence, so nothing you type leaves the phone. Needs a device with Apple Intelligence turned on.

Plan your week
The Plan tab shows the days ahead with each day’s forecast, so you can set outfits in advance and save the ones you love.
Plan: Free plans today and tomorrow and keeps 5 saved outfits; Pro plans the whole week with no saved-outfit limit.
Trip packing
Give Cotton the days of a trip and it builds a different outfit for each day that reuses pieces, so the bag holds as few clothes as possible. It shows the packing list too.

Insights and cost per wear
See how much of your closet you wore this month, what has waited longest, your most-worn pieces and cost per wear. Free for everyone.
Today widget and morning notification
Your outfit arrives as a quiet morning notification and on a widget for the Home Screen and Lock Screen.
Share cards
Share an outfit as a story-ready card. Friends without Cotton land on a simple page with a link to the App Store.
Studio polish
Optional. Tap Polish and Cotton redraws that one piece as a clean product photo on white, keeping its color and details. Hold to compare, undo anytime. This is the only feature that sends a photo off the phone, and the server doesn’t keep it.

Privacy
- No account, no sign-up, no ads.
- Photos are cut out on the device with Apple Vision. Your closet, outfits and wear history are stored on your iPhone and in its backup.
- Weather is optional: your approximate location goes only to Apple Weather for the forecast.
- Ask Cotton runs on the phone with Apple Intelligence; what you type isn’t sent to us or anyone else.
- Studio polish is optional and sends only that one piece to be redrawn; it isn’t stored.
- Anonymous usage counts only. Never photos or closet contents. No tracking across apps, no data sold.

What Cotton doesn’t do
- iPhone and iPad only. There is no Android app and no web app.
- No social feed, shopping, resale or affiliate links.
- No import from other closet apps; you photograph your clothes again.

Which features are free in Cotton?+
Everything except the extras listed under Pro. Free covers up to 25 pieces with daily outfits, weather, occasions, Insights and cost per wear, the widget, three Ask Cotton requests a day, planning for today and tomorrow, and three Studio polishes to try.
Does Ask Cotton work on every iPhone?+
Ask Cotton uses Apple Intelligence, so it needs an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence with it turned on. Everything else in Cotton, including weather-aware daily outfits, works without it.
Does Cotton need my location?+
Only if you want weather-aware outfits, and only approximately. The location goes to Apple Weather for the forecast; Cotton doesn’t store it or send it to us. You can turn it off in iOS Settings and still get outfits.
